SPECIALIST TREATMENT
Scar Therapy
for how a scar feels.
A scar can affect more than its appearance. Scar tissue may feel tight, numb, sensitive, restricted or simply not quite part of you. Scar Therapy is gentle, unhurried hands-on work tailored to the person, the scar and where they are in their recovery.

WHO IS IT FOR
Scars of many kinds, recent or long-standing.
Scars often treated
-
Post-surgical scars, including abdominal and joint surgery
-
C-section scars
-
Burns and traumatic scarring
-
Oncology-related scars, including after breast surgery
-
Older scars that still feel tight or sensitive
What people can notice
-
A greater sense of ease and softness through the area
-
Less pulling or tightness with movement
-
Changes in sensation around the scar
-
Feeling more comfortable with the area being touched
Everyone responds differently. Scar Therapy supports comfort, sensation and movement; it does not remove scars, and outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Suitability is always discussed before we begin.
Talk it through
History, healing and how the scar affects you day to day.
Start gently
Light, slow contact around and over the area, at a pace you are comfortable with.
Review together
We check how the area responded before deciding whether more sessions are useful.
Wounds must be fully healed before any scar therapy takes place. In general that's 8 weeks post surgery onwards. Before treatment we talk through your surgery or injury, how healing has gone, any medical guidance you have been given, and how the area currently feels. If treatment is not appropriate yet, I will say so.
